Awesome Nature and Culture of Tripura

 

Exploring the physiography of Tripura,

Surrounded by the hill and valleys,

Wandering across the plains,

With anticlinal ranges,

From north to south,

Starting from Boromura in west,

Moving around Atharamura and Longtharai,

Going towards the Shakhan,

Travelling to the Jampui Hills in east!

Betling Shib being the top point of Jampui range,

Hillocks scattered around this state,

With a lot of alluvial valleys,

The Story of Linen

 

Mr. Jack Reynolds is a history teacher from Texas, USA.

Lisa Chuckworth is a history student from History School, Texas, USA.

Lisa asked, “How old is Linen textiles?”

Jack said, “It has been found that Dyed flax fibers discovered in cave of Southeastern Europe. “

Lisa asked, “Where is the site?”

Jack said, “It is Georgia and application of the woven linen fabrics have been found from wild flax. “

Lisa asked, “How old is it?”

Jack said, “It is more than 30,000 years before present. “

Lisa asked, “Linen is there in the holy Bible. Where is it found other than that?”

Jack said, “It is found in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.”

Lisa asked, “Is it found in eighteenth century?”

Jack said, “It was present in American colonies and Europe.”

Lisa asked, “ I heard sir you have gone to Egypt and did research on linen. Is it true?”

Jack said, It is utilized for the mummification and burial shrouds. It had been found as clothing in regular life. “

Lisa said, “Where was white linen used?”

Jack said, “It had been found in high temperature.”

Lisa asked, “What is the history behind Tarkhan dress?”

Jack said, “It has been the oldest garments woven in this world and it has been between 3482 and 3102 BC.”

Lisa asked, “Is there any use of linen as currency?”

Jack said, “It is used in Egypt in that way!”

Lisa asked, “What is the amazing fact about linen in Egyptian history?”

Jack said, “It has been found that Egyptian mummies wrapped in the linen as a symbol of purity. It has been regarded as show of wealth. Even after 3000 years, Tutankhamen mummy showed intact linen curtains.”

 

Lisa asked, “Who is the top exporter of Linen?”

Jack said, “As per report of 2018, from United Nations' repository of official international trade statistics, China  has been the biggest exporter of the linen fabrics.”

Lisa asked, “How much revenue was generated by china for linen in 2018?”

Jack said, “It was $732.3 million from exports. Then comes Italy  with a revenue of $173.0 million, then comes Belgium with a revenue of $68.9 million, then comes United Kingdom with a revenue of $51.7 million.”

Lisa said, “Thank you sir! Your answers will definitely help me score A grade in History.”

Jack said, “You are welcome!”
